Interested in getting involved?

Have you ever found yourself about to start a CCU rotation and worrying about all the information you needed to know? Have you ever had a very challenging case in the CCU and thought to yourself, “when would I have ever learned how to manage this situation prior to it happening to one of my patients?”

As the CCU can be a very busy service, we don’t always get the same type of teaching on this rotation as we may on a medicine or consult rotation. Rather than expect you to cram everything you need to know prior to starting your rotation or after you get home from a long day on service, we decided to make a longitudinal CCU course that allows you to learn important concepts in bite-sized pieces so that you can learn high yield concepts throughout the year.

We will be compiling all the chapters on each section into a book which we intend to publish at the end of the academic year. The best part? You can contribute by writing a chapter, which means that you can add another publication to your resume. Whether you are interested in cardiology, medical education, or any other specialty (i.e. GI bleeds in patients on DAPT, endocrine emergencies in the CCU, new onset heart failure in the setting of chemo use, etc), this is a great opportunity to share your experience or teach others something that may help them while they are on service in the CCU. Each chapter will be reviewed by a cardiologist, which is another great way to interact with faculty and get your name out there. Plus, as we are opening this up to multiple institutions, there will be many people benefiting from your work.

Ultimately, this is a project by trainees for trainees, and we would love to have all the help we can get. If you have a topic of interest that you would like to write about, let us know! If not, we have many ideas for potential chapters!

We are always looking for trainees to write chapters and for cardiac pharmacists, fellows, and attendings to peer-review! If you would like to get involved, please email us!
